Hi Rach, I have been watching your 30 days for cake. I am at day 5. I want to know about the attachment that scrapes the bowl that you talk about. I have a kitchen aid Pro 450. Is that a Kitchen Aid attachment or a generic. I bake every week for a non profit and I hate having to scrape every time I mix. Any info you can give me would be great. When I went on the Kitchen Aid site they don’t mention the Pro 450. I was wondering if they might have them at a Bed Bath and Beyond.
Love all your cakes. You are quite talented. Ann Crowe, Big Pine Key now Lakeland THanks.
Hi Ann! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! It’s not made by Kitchen Aid, but I still like it a lot. Is your mixer bowl 4.5 or 5 quarts? If you can give me that information, I’ll send you a link to one that should work with that model.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for getting back to me. It is KitchenAid Pro 450 and it looks to me like it is 5 qt. All the mixing attachments are metal not plastic if that helps. I make 4 batches of cookies and 2 batches of bread every Friday for sale at our classic car show. The proceeds go to theBaptist Children’s Home in our city. I have to scrape with the rubber spatula and would love to eliminate that step. I don’t think I have the patience for making your type of cakes but I have learned some helpful hints from you. Like the damp cloth so the flour doesn’t go every where. Your cakes are beautiful. Wish you were closer so I could order one for a special occasion. Thanks again. Ann
My mixer came with all metal attachments, too, so I was a little worried about using anything else. Thankfully, I haven’t had any problems so far! I know your cookie and bread dough is probably much thicker than my cake batter and icing, but I do use the same paddles when I make gumpaste and that stuff is VERY think. I think it will work just fine for you. Here is a link to a scraping paddle that should work for your 5-quart bowl-lift mixer:

I could totally go for some of your home made bread right now. Stop making me so hungry!
