I’ve had a few calls and emails with questions about the upcoming cake class on September 20th. To make it easier on y’all, I figured I’d post the questions and answers here.
Q: What am I going to learn in this class?
A: You will learn the EXACT methods I use to make an 8” round cake from start to finish. We’ll start off by prepping the pans and getting the cake in the oven. While it bakes and cools, we’ll prep the boards and bases, make icing, decorate the base and start on a fondant figurine. After the cake is cool, we’ll level and stack it, ice it and cover it in fondant. Finally, we’ll add borders, any writing that you like, decorations and finishing touches. We’ll also cover easy methods for covering up any blemishes that were made along the way.
Q: How long is the class?
A: All day! We’ll get started around 9:00am and finish up around 5:30pm. I’ve scheduled a 1 hour break for lunch. Time will go by quickly because you’ll be having so much fun.
Q: Oh yum, lunch! What’s for lunch?
A: We’ll dine on fabulous food from my favorite place: Chipotle. Your lunch is included in the cost of the class.
Q: How much does the class cost?
A: It’s $150. It may seem a little steep, at first. Keep in mind that at the end of the day, you’ll have an awesome cake to take home ($80 value), and a whole bunch of cake-making knowledge. You’ll also have more friends, which is priceless!
Q: Can my child participate?
A: Sure! I do ask that kids be at least 12 years old. It might be difficult for the younger guys and gals to pay attention for that long.
Q: Why should I take your class when I can go to my local craft store?
A: If you take a class at the craft store, you have to bake a cake, make icing and bring it all with you. So if you’re struggling at all with baking or making icing, you won’t get any tips in those areas. You also have to buy all of the tools, so if you decide cake making isn’t for you, you’ll have a bunch of tools that you’ll likely never use again. Above all else, my studio is fun! I’m fun!
Q: Will there be other classes?
A: Yes! I’m still working on the dates, but I’ll post info as soon as it’s finalized.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: Just click here.
