The cake was the perfect dessert for a joint 30th birthday party.
Flavors:
Top tier: cinnamon cake with cinnamon buttercream
Bottom tier: almond cake with almond buttercream
I iced the bottom tier in a very light blush colored buttercream. I used a pink gel color to get a light pink and then added a dab of ivory to get the perfect blush color. After the cake was chilled well, I mixed Rolkem gold with vodka to apply the gold to the cake. Tip: use very light brush strokes to get that feathery edge.
After my final coat of buttercream on the top tier, I pressed confetti sprinkles into the sides and top of the cake. I chilled the cake for about 45 minutes before painting on the gold. I used the same gold and vodka, but made the mixture a much thicker consistency for good coverage. I chilled it again and brought it back to touch up some lighter areas.
The birthday gals added the most adorable 30th topper to bring it all together.
