I have known Kinsley since 6th grade and I was absolutely honored to be a part of her wedding day. Like a lot of couples, she and Michael had to reschedule their wedding celebration a couple of times because of COVID.
The wedding cake topper is from Kinsley’s grandmothers 1933 wedding! I think it’s extra special because she was named after her grandmother.
The Atlanta Braves won the World Series just a couple of weeks before the wedding. Kinsley sent me a text the morning after the big win asking if we could do a surprise groom’s cake. Of course I said yes. In the past, I’ve made cakes with more of a baseball feel, but they wanted something a little more subtle for their wedding cake.
Fun fact: this was the last time I used my old recipes that contain dairy and eggs. When I made the transition to an all-vegan menu, I chose to honor the orders that had already been placed. I didn’t want couples to have to do a second tasting with me (or worse, find another vendor). It just felt like the right thing to do. It was the end of an era for my business, but I was thrilled that it was for someone I know and care about.
