I can’t stress enough how much I love making cakes that look like other foods, like this pizza cake. When Hannah told me that her fiance eats a chicken biscuit from Chic Fil A every day, we knew exactly what his surprise vegan groom’s cake should look like!
I made the “biscuits” out of cinnamon cake and used vanilla cake for the “chicken”. Most of the time, the goal with a cake is to make sure it’s perfectly smooth with no imperfections. When it came time to cover the “chicken” in fondant, I had to figure out a way to make it look like a rough, crispy texture. I came up with a method that resulted in the perfect look, but it’s too complicated to write out.
But the real question is, did the guests realize the cake was vegan? We may never know!
